Hike along the fascinating Via Alpina, one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails, from Vaduz in the east to Montreux on Lake Geneva in the west of Switzerland. The No. 1 Via Alpina leads over almost 400 km and 14 Alpine passes, divided into around 20 stages through the impressive Swiss landscape with breathtaking views of the mountains and nature and exciting insights into the country's rich tradition, culture and history.
The Via Alpina Switzerland is divided into three sections:
The Via Alpina Switzerland is linked to the International Via Alpina Trail, which stretches over 5000 km from the Adriatic through the entire Alpine arc and through eight countries to Monaco.
On the way on the third part of the Via Alpina from stage 14 to 20!
The third part of the Via Alpina takes you through the Simmental and Saanenland regions into the French-speaking part of Switzerland and to the finish line and grand finale on the shores of Lake Geneva in Montreux. This is where the Via Alpina Switzerland ends after 20 stages and almost 400 km.
The Bunderchrinde is the last rugged crossing that leads from Kandersteg to Adelboden. Now the landscape becomes more gentle and rolling. From the Hahnenmoospass, the wide Simmental opens up and, one mountain range further on, the Saanenland. Cows graze on the lush alpine pastures and you can almost imagine the milk flowing down from the alps into the valley, turning into tender cream, yoghurt and butter as well as tasty cheese that melts in the caquelon to turn into a delicious fondue. Welcome to Fondueland Gstaad!
